Community Meeting #2 Recap
How is it March already? Is it just us, or is this year flying by?
Just three and a half weeks after the standing-room-only kickoff event and following a packed calendar of City projects last week, we weren’t sure what to expect from our second Community Engagement Event on February 25th. However, it turned out to be a great night of learning, listening, and discussion.
After a quick recap of what we’ve heard from the community through surveys, preference boards, small-group workshops, and other input opportunities, the design team jumped into some key themes of what makes a good park, and how those might be applied to Hollice T. Williams Park.
We’ll be sharing more about those concepts over the next few weeks, but in the meantime, you can catch up (or review) the presentation from last week at the links below.
Meeting #2 Recap
Please feel free to share this with friends and neighbors who might be interested in this project.
Also, please pencil April 8-9, 2025, on your calendar. That is our target date for our next Community Engagement Event, which will include a high-level Vision Plan for the park, incorporating your ideas and best practices from the design team.
Finally, look out for details on a special event soon for former residents of the “Lost Neighborhood.” Those residents were forced to move to make room for the overpass, but we’re hoping to hear from them about their hopes for this project and ways the design can honor this history and reflect the vibrant neighborhood that was once there.
If you or someone you know was displaced by the interstate construction, this event will be important so stay tuned for more information.
