Laura Solano is a Partner of Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates, Inc. Landscape Architects. She has been a landscape architect for over 40 years and has spent the last 34 years as a leading force in developing the MVVA’s extensive portfolio of award-winning public parks, urban open spaces, and institutional projects in North America.
For over 25 years, she taught at Harvard’s Graduate School of Design where she was an Associate Professor in Practice. Ms. Solano lectures widely at educational institutions and conferences. Her writings, focusing on sustainable design, technology, and community engagement, have been widely published.
She has participated in the Mayors’ Institute on City Design, and currently serves as a Lead Facilitator for the Landscape Architecture Foundation’s Fellowship for Innovation and Leadership. She is a Fellow of the American Society of Landscape Architects and in 2022 she received ASLA’s Design Medal.
